Coronavirus Vaccine Tracker

Researchers around the world are developing more than 145 vaccines against the coronavirus, and 20 vaccines are in human trials. Vaccines typically require years of research and testing before reaching the clinic, but scientists are racing to produce a safe and effective vaccine by next year.

Antibody produced in

response to a vaccine

Work began in January with the deciphering of the SARS-CoV-2 genome. The first vaccine safety trials in humans started in March, but the road ahead remains uncertain. Some trials will fail, and others may end without a clear result. But a few may succeed in stimulating the immune system to produce effective antibodies against the virus.

Here is the status of all the vaccines that have reached trials in humans, along with a selection of promising vaccines still being tested in cells or animals.

New additions and recent updates:

•  The Japanese company AnGes begins Phase I/II trials.

•  The Indian company Bharat Biotech will begin Phase I/II trials.

•  The Australian company Vaxine launched a Phase I trial.

•  The American company Pfizer reported Phase I results.

•  The American company Inovio announced interim Phase I results.

•  A vaccine by CanSino Biologics was approved for military use.

The Vaccine Testing Process

The development cycle of a vaccine, from lab to clinic.

PRECLINICAL TESTING: Scientists give the vaccine to animals such as mice or monkeys to see if it produces an immune response.

PHASE I SAFETY TRIALS: Scientists give the vaccine to a small number of people to test safety and dosage as well as to confirm that it stimulates the immune system.

PHASE II EXPANDED TRIALS: Scientists give the vaccine to hundreds of people split into groups, such as children and the elderly, to see if the vaccine acts differently in them. These trials further test the vaccine’s safety and ability to stimulate the immune system.

PHASE III EFFICACY TRIALS: Scientists give the vaccine to thousands of people and wait to see how many become infected, compared with volunteers who received a placebo. These trials can determine if the vaccine protects against the coronavirus.

APPROVAL: Regulators in each country review the trial results and decide whether to approve the vaccine or not. During a pandemic, a vaccine may receive emergency use authorization before getting formal approval.

WARP SPEED: The U.S. government’s Operation Warp Speed program is expected to name five or more vaccine projects to receive billions of dollars in federal funding before there’s proof that the vaccines work.

COMBINED PHASES: Another way to accelerate vaccine development is to combine phases. Some coronavirus vaccines are now in Phase I/II trials, for example, in which they are tested for the first time on hundreds of people.

India Banned 59 Chinese Mobile App.

Indian government has blocked 59 apps with Chinese links that included the hugely popular TikTok, WeChat and UC Browser, amid a huge economic backlash against China following the June 15 clashes at Ladakh in which 20 Indian soldiers died in action. Sources said inputs from intelligence agencies suggested that the apps have been violating the terms of usage, compromising users privacy, and being used as spyware or malware. Within minutes of the announcement, the Indian government’s TikTok account MyGov, which had 1.1 million followers, was disabled.

The move comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India has given a “befitting response” to China. He also spoke of the countrywide call for boycott of Chinese goods, juxtaposing it against the government’s “Atma Nirbhar Bharat” campaign. “We will buy local and be vocal for local and this will help India become stronger,” he said.

In a statement this evening, the government said the apps were blocked “in view of information available they are engaged in activities which is prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order”.

The statement from the Ministry of Electronics and Information and Technology said it had received an “exhaustive recommendation” from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The ministry said it also received representations from people on “security of data and risk to privacy” regarding certain apps.

“The compilation of these data, its mining and profiling by elements hostile to national security and defence of India, which ultimately impinges upon the sovereignty and integrity of India, is a matter of very deep and immediate concern which requires emergency measures. At the same time, there have been raging concerns on aspects relating to data security and safeguarding the privacy of 130 crore Indians,” said the release.

The move comes amid a countrywide call from traders and civil society to boycott Chinese products and services after the June 15 clashes. The government had chipped in with a bar on Chinese equipment for the 4G upgradation of the state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd and sacking of a Chinese firm that had a Rs 471-crore railways contract.

Last week, the government also made the mention of the “Country of Origin” mandatory for sellers listing their products in the Government e-Marketplace — a move that’s expected to add to the odds against Chinese products. E-commerce companies including Amazon and Flipkart, have decided to follow suit.

Experts suggested that the ban on apps is a major blow to China’s Digital Silk Route ambitions, eroding millions of dollars from valuation of its companies. This could also lead to more countries following India’s path in acting against these Apps.

“The Modi government shows its tremendous resolve and dexterity of engaging China on multiple fronts and hitting China where it hurts the most,” said a party source. “This is India’s first salvo to China after the border clashes, showing that India has a diverse range of retaliatory options,” he added.

Thank You Glenmark Pharmaceuticals For Making FabiFlu, First Drug To Treat Covid 19 Patients

Hail Glenmark Pharmaceuticals! They just did it!

As the coronavirus patients are continuously rising, desperate research into ways to cure has been going at a frantic pace. While there’s still no Sureshot vaccine or immediate cure, there are certain medicines slowly being developed that can help treat the dreaded illness. Now, there’s one being made in India.

Glenmark Victory

Mumbai based Glenmark Pharmaceuticals has made the antiviral drug FabiFlu, which has been approved for the treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19 patients.

This makes Glenmark the first Indian company to commercially produce an antiviral drug for the treatment of moderate coronavirus. They received marketing and manufacturing approval from the Indian drug regulator, Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) and launched today.

FabiFlu costs Rs 3500 for 34 tablets, which comes out to Rs 103 per tablet. The dosage is 200 mg X 9 tablets on day one and 200 mg X 4 tablets a day for 14 days. Clinical trials of mild to moderate patients found the efficacy of 80% in those treated.

Effects of Fabiflu

Glenmark conducted clinical trials among 90 mild and 60 moderate COVID-19 patients across 11 sites in India. The drug essentially works by getting into cells and inhibiting viral replication to reduce the viral load. A high rate of viral replication can be controlled with the early use of antiviral drugs.

It is important to use these in the early stages, as viral replication in the later stages slows down and the body’s violent immune response drives disease to complications and organ failure.

The drug Favipiravir is currently sold under different brand names in certain countries of the world to treat coronavirus. With the arrival of it in India, let’s hope our patients can be given some relief. This might be our ray of hope in these precarious times.

21st June 2020 Solar Eclipse, All you need to know.

Writer :- Narsimha Rao

Meditation and homa during an eclipse are extremely powerful for spiritual progress. Try to make use of the solar eclipse this weekend.

Some people wonder why temples remain closed during eclipses, if spiritual sadhana during a homa is effective. Let me explain the reasoning behind both, before sharing my thoughts on what this eclipse may bring geopolitically.

* * *

Sun is the supporter of life and giver of light. He represents individual soul within us, which creates and sustains duality. Moon is the waxing and waning reflector of Sun’s light. He represents mind within us, which *experiences* the duality. Lagna (earth) represents the actor within us, who *acts* within duality.

Rahu and Ketu are the intersection points of earth’s orbit around Sun and Moon’s orbit around earth, i.e. actor’s orbit around facilitator (soul) and experiencer’s orbit around actor.

Within us, Rahu represents the spirit of breaking barriers and getting things somehow, while Ketu represents the spirit of detachment and freedom from wants.

* * *

When the facilitator, experiencer and actor are all aligned in the macrocosm, it promotes a similar alignment within us. After all, we are all microcosms of cosmos.

Thus, that time is conducive to (1) acting to ensure we get what deeply want and (2) being free from wants and being able to act and experience freely without any strings attached. Either is possible based on one’s current spiritual momentum.

* * *

Whether one wants spiritual progress or fulfill some material desires, meditation during eclipse is very powerful. Some shastras say that meditation during eclipse is 1000 times more powerful than at regular times. No wonder because eclipse time is conducive to mind aligning with soul and that is after all the key to success in meditation!

If there is a wish in mind and it is reasonably dharmik, it is not a bad idea to take a specific sankalpa and get it fulfilled. There is no use in having a desire and pretending to be desireless. But, even as one fulfills desires, one should attempt to overcome desires. Suppression works only in the short term. Overcoming is the key.

Of course, one can just meditate without a sankalpa also. Focus the mind on the sound of the mantra or the imagery associated with a deity or a conceptual understanding of a deity (or whatever is natural for you) and try to forget the surroundings, the body and other regular pre-occupations of the mind. The chance of success in forgetting other things and achieving “union” (yoga) with Mantra is maximum during an eclipse!!

* * *

Some people ask about whether it is auspicious to watch an eclipse. It is not considered to be auspicious. But, more importantly, getting carried away with the physical phenomenon stops one from experiencing the corresponding internal phenomenon. This is really a time for sadhana.

BTW, while lunar eclipses that are not visible where one lives are not effective, solar eclipses are effective times for sadhana irrespective of where one lives. After all, mind/experiencer (Moon) has a limited range of impact, but facilitator/soul (Sun) has infinite reach!

* * *

As pointed out above, eclipse time when Rahu and Ketu over-power Sun and Moon are suitable for sadhanas for moksha (liberation – Ketu) or kaama (fulfilling desires – Rahu), but not regular dharma that is represented by Sun and Moon.

Sun and Moon are the keepers of dharma, i.e. regular balance and order in the world. The time when they are overpowered is not suitable for dharmik activities. That is why temples close during that time. After all, the purpose of temples is to maintain some religious order in society.

* * *

This 3 eclipse period (June 5-July 5) with 4 retrograde planets is dicey, with people’s judgment clouded and emotions running high. I know that some friends are worried about the possibility of an Indo-China war.

My expectation is that tensions will run high for a while, but China and India will succeed in stopping this from escalating into a major war. I will also not be surprised if this is smoke for a fire that China plans to start elsewhere.

I am more concerned about a natural disaster and an upward tick in the pandemic, across the world, than a major Indo-China war.

It is actually possible that US will start to prepare for a military adventure after this eclipse, though that makes no logical sense, i.e. nothing happening right now points in that direction.

In US, the political chaos and unrest that started a few weeks back may continue.

As mentioned earlier, these 3 eclipses are not good for President Trump and come around the time he changes dasa (life phase transition) from a terrific dasa to a terrible dasa. He will find himself in more and more troubles. Though he seemed invincible and infallible till recently, that will change and he will be vulnerable.

* * *

The peak of the eclipse is around 12:10 pm IST in India. As mentioned, this is a great time to do a homa or japa. Any mantra is fine, but mantras of Ugra devatas are particularly better. Even if you have never performed a homa (fire ritual) by yourself, this is a good occasion to do one. In fact, great Vimalananda used to initiate his disciples into homa during eclipses. There are several manuals on my website.

If you have not done before or not good with Sanskrit, consider doing the simplest possible homa by yourself. Simplest homa manuals for various deities and a short 8-minute video illustrating the simplest homa with the simplest set up, are at

If only you see the video on that page ONCE, you will get FULL confidence that you too can do it!!

Though this procedure is highly simplified and my full homa video is only 8 minutes, you can still do it for a long time if you want and spend time chanting the mantra.

If you want recommendation, I suggest homa or japa to Narasimha or Durga or Hanuman. Simplest homa manuals to all of them are available at the link I shared.

India’s Rama Takes on The Chinese Dragon.

This is what Taiwanese News Media Picture of The Day Speaks.

As news broke that a vicious melee had broken out between Indian and Chinese troops along the Sino-Indian border in the Ladakh area on Tuesday (June 16), an illustration showing a Hindu god battling a Chinese dragon surfaced on social media.

On Tuesday, a fierce brawl broke out between Indian and Chinese troops on a disputed stretch of border in the Ladakh region, with the Indian side suffering 20 dead and the PLA allegedly reporting 43 dead and wounded. As nationalism on both sides of the border reached a fever pitch that day, an illustration showing Rama, the seventh avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu, drawing a bow and preparing to shoot a huge arrow into a Chinese dragon beside the words “We Conquer. We kill.” was posted on the Hong Kong social media site LIHKG.null

Hong Kong Twitter user HoSaiLei soon shared it and wrote “An Indian friend has already finished this exquisite Sino-Indian war poster.” Within 21 hours, the post had gained 861 likes, 300 retweets, and 34 comments.

Many Indian netizens thanked HoSaiLei for sharing the image, and he responded to one user by saying, “Likewise!! Please know this, we support you!” Below the image, some Hongkongers jokingly posted screenshots of the character Dhalsim from the video game “Street Fighter” defeating the Chinese character Chun-Li.

Breakthrough: Treatment with dexamethasone saves one third of most severe COVID cases

A “major breakthrough” finding revealed that the drug, widely available at pharmacies, had a promising impact for the treatment of severe coronavirus patients. According to a UK-led clinical trial known as RECOVERY, dexamethasone has been found to save the lives of one-third of the most serious COVID-19 cases. On June 16, a “major breakthrough” finding revealed that the drug, widely available at pharmacies, had a promising impact on coronavirus patients with symptoms of respiratory distress, researchers at the University of Oxford said in a statement.

More than 2,000 severely ill COVID-19 patients were administered with the dosage, which included COVID-19 patients who could only breathe with the help of a ventilator, as per the study. Amongst those, it was found that the dexamethasone steroid reduced deaths by 35 percent, further, patients on supplement oxygen were saved by a fifth, according to preliminary results. According to the researchers, the daily doses of dexamethasone could prevent the deaths among one in eight ventilated patients and might save the life of a patient out of total 25 patients that might be in need of a ventilator or intubation due to respiratory issues, the team said, as per the reports. However, a group of 4,000 patients who did not receive the dosage of the drug had worsening symptoms, scientists reported.

First drug that “improves survival in COVID-19″

While England’s Chief Medical Officer hailed the finding as to the most important trial result so far, as scientists seek effective treatments for coronavirus, professor of Emerging Infectious Diseases in the Nuffield Department of Medicine, University of Oxford, Peter Horby, reportedly called the drug as first to “improve survival in COVID-19″. Further, he was quoted saying that the drug Dexamethasone was inexpensive, on the shelf, and could be used immediately to save lives worldwide.

Reject CCP, Sign The Petition.

Reject the Chinese Communist Party

Sign the petition today to:

  • condemn the CCP for its crimes against humanity;
  • demand that your government begin investigations into CCP subversion within your country; and
  • hold the CCP responsible for the damage it has caused both financially and in terms of lives lost around the world.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is directly responsible for the current global pandemic that has caused a staggering death count and the loss of businesses, jobs, and income.

The CCP lied about the origin of the outbreak and covered it up, costing the world six valuable weeks of preparation. The virus started in central China, and might have been contained there—but instead, it was allowed to spread, creating a global pandemic.

Unfortunately, the virus is only the tip of the iceberg. For decades, the CCP has been actively undermining the economies, national security, and moral fabric of nations around the world.

It steals from wealthy nations, such as the United States, through cyberattacks and intellectual property theft, and enslaves developing countries through debt-traps.

It has infiltrated vital institutions around the world—such as universities, news media, governing bodies, and international organizations like the United Nations. Furthermore, the CCP uses its propaganda channels to promote its wicked ideology and lies around the world in an effort to sow discord and cover up its own crimes.

Those who have been the greatest victims of the CCP have been the Chinese people. An estimated 65 million Chinese people have died as a result of the CCP’s tyrannical rule over the past 70 years—with the real number believed to be much higher. To this day, the CCP’s persecution campaigns continue, including the forced harvesting of organs from prisoners of conscience.

Grave Reality of Coronavirus in Japan.

After years of efforts by the government and its citizens, japan was able to bend the curve for suicide rates in the country from 80 suicides a day to 55 daily. But now the covid-19 pandemic is nullifying all the efforts of Japanese Government. Since japan’s state of emergency was announced, the suicide prevention center say that they have recorded an uptick in distress calls. In this article we will discuss more about this. One of the volunteer express his experience:-

It’S just another day in japan’s help center.The phone starts ringing as soon as the suicide hotline opens and keeps ringing off the hook. One distress call after another. There are so many people that call us who want to connect and talk to somebody, but the fact is there are so many calls and we can’t answer all of them.

After new laws, policy changes and massive efforts by citizen and volunteer japan saw a drop in suicides this year by more than 20 percent compared to last year, but the pandemic has washed away all those efforts. Distress calls have seen a spike after japan announced its soft lockdown and a state of emergency, so much so that suicide prevention groups are now fearful that this outbreak could lead back to the grim decade. A time when more than 30,000 japanese took their lives every single year, that’s more than 80 suicides every day. It is also pridected that the the number of suicides will increase in the future. In the past, when there has been a disaster, the number of suicides spied after things, calm down. I think what we do is important for times like this, with so many engaged in combating the spread of the virus. The health facility has fewer volunteers. That is resulting in many unanswered question.

Japan brought down its suicide rate, but still, the highest among G7 nations. The country witnessed a decline of nearly 40 percent in 15 years, but the current situation is bringing back haunting memories of 1998 when economic despair hit the asian markets after a sales tax hike. Last year, japan hit its lowest in 40 years, but the rate of suicide was still higher than in the united states, which is more than twice of japan’s. The financial effects of this pandemic is sparking fears of joblessness and economic pressure, especially for and medium-sized businesses.The desire for suicide increases after people build up stress being off hopeless experts say that the coronavirus pandemic will have a long-term impact and the impact will be not just financial and medical but social too, while the phone keeps not in one but many suicide prevention. Centers support workers are fearful that the looming economic crisis could turn out to be more than they can handle.
